2 women are first Germans to receive Ghana’s dual citizenship

Two entrepreneurs from Germany have been awarded dual citizenship by the Republic of Ghana, GhanaWeb can report.

Michaela Tomfeah and Julia Tomfeah according to a tweet by Ghana’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Gina Blay, become the first Germans to receive Ghana’s dual citizenship which was awarded to them by Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

Michaela and Julia Tomfeah will now be recognised as citizens of Ghana and enjoy the same rights, privileges and responsibilities any other Ghanaian enjoys.

The laws of Ghana permits a person who wants to be a citizen of Ghana to apply to the Minister for the Interior and get approval by the President of Ghana. Such a person becomes a citizen after the certificate of naturalization has been issued and oath of allegiance sworn to.
