Foreigners get Lesotho citizenship

Lesotho’s Ministry of Home Affairs said Wednesday that 16 foreigners from different countries have naturalised as Basotho.Ministry spokesperson Hape Marumo said some of these foreigners have since applied for Lesotho citizenship but failed because they could not meet the set standards to qualify.
Marumo said in order for one to qualify for Lesotho citizenship, they should have at least lived in Lesotho for more than five years, adding that the applicant should also be able to speak Sesotho language.
