ID cards to only be issued to eligible Kenyans

The government will address concerns raised by youth in Garissa County in getting national identity cards after their fingerprints appeared in the refugees’ data base.

Garissa County commissioner, James Kianda said the government will ensure that eligible Kenyans are issued with the national document. Kianda said the government seeks to establish the number of genuine Kenyans who registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as refugees in the region.
