Libya: Council of Ministers Decision No. 322 of 2021 for the formation of a Central Committee for Nationality and Reporting on some related Provisions

Article 1: establishes a central committee to study the applications for Libyan nationality. The committee is made up of representatives from across the key Libyan government institutions (passport office, civil status office, Ministry of Interior etc).
Article 2 states that the committee will be tasked with review of the local procedures through the formation of sub-committees. Article 4 states that the sub-committee will deal with applications for Libyan citizenship, which include:
1) children of Libyan citizen mothers
2) wives/widows/divorcees of Libyan husbands
3) children of naturalised citizens who were not included in their father’s nationality certificate
4) those of Libyan origin lacking proof thereof
5) decisions issued to grant citizenship and the timeliness of decisions.
