HOME affairs minister Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana has withdrawn the proposed changes to the Citizenship Act after it was rejected by the National Council and the Presidency.
Iivula-Ithana said the withdrawal of the Citizenship Bill was because she is bound by the “collective decision” made by Cabinet, which directed that the bill be withdrawn for further consultations.
“Cabinet has undertaken to consult widely on the issue,” she told the National Assembly on Tuesday.
