Aux Seychelles, la nationalité est définie au chapitre II de la Constitution de 1993, telle que modifiée en 2011, et est en outre précisée dans le code de la nationalité de 1994, qui a remplacé l’Ordonnance de 1976 sur la nationalité. Le code de la nationalité de 1994 a été modifié en 2013, afin de modifier les dispositions relatives à la naturalisation, notamment pour permettre la « citoyenneté par l’investissement », et celles sur la privation de la nationalité.
Les Seychelles ont signalé au Comité des Nations Unies des droits de l’enfant que la nationalité est automatiquement conférée à tout enfant né d’un parent Seychellois, sans distinction de sexe.
