- Liberian Red Coded Mission: A Liberian Red Coded Mission composed of four officials from the Liberian Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs was in Ghana to vet locally integrating refugees of Liberian origin. The total number of individuals processed by the end of mission was 983 out of the 1049 expected, and this included 251 of the 364 red coded cases, 252 individuals whose passports had not been printed as well as 38 new born babies . 251 new passports were verified in presence of the holders to ensure that there were no errors, and 153 passports endorsed with Ghanaian residence permits were distributed to owners.
- Workshop on Nationality and Statelessness: The UNHCR Regional Representation in West Africa in collaboration with the University of Ghana organized a workshop on Nationality and Statelessness from 12 – 17 December, 2016 to educate 30 Professors of law, and human rights practitioners from predominantly Anglophone Africa, on statelessness and how to address this situation on the continent. Participants committed to teaching and including statelessness in their existing syllabi and increasing the depth of teaching on statelessness.
