{"id":10960,"date":"2016-11-18T16:18:44","date_gmt":"2016-11-18T16:18:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/?p=10960"},"modified":"2018-10-01T17:49:58","modified_gmt":"2018-10-01T17:49:58","slug":"minister-proposes-changes-in-citizenship-clause","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/en\/minister-proposes-changes-in-citizenship-clause\/","title":{"rendered":"Zimbabwe: Minister Proposes Changes in Citizenship Clause"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Nqobile Tshili, <\/strong><strong>Chronicle Correspondent<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>THE Minister of Home Affairs Dr Ignatius Chombo is proposing to amend citizenship clauses in the Constitution as part of legislation reforms.<span id=\"more-288732\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If the constitutional amendment is adopted, this would be the first time the country would have revised parts of its constitution that came into force in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Chombo, in a prepared response submitted to Parliament on his behalf by the Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement, Dr Douglas Mombeshora during Wednesday\u2019s Question and Answer session, said the proposed constitutional amendments had already been forwarded to Government.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sirius-dfp-inarticle\">\u00a0\u201cThe Ministry has made submissions to Government for amendments of certain provisions of the Constitution of Zimbabwe regarding the Citizenship Law.
