Repeals and replaces Organic Law n\u00ba 30\/2008 of 25\/07\/2008<\/p>\n

CHAPTER II: APPLYING FOR AND GRANTING RWANDAN NATIONALITY
\nSection One: Applying for Rwandan nationality
\nSubsection One: Applying for Rwandan nationality by origin<\/strong><\/p>\n

Article 5: Person eligible to apply for Rwandan nationality by origin<\/p>\n

A person eligible to apply for Rwandan nationality by origin is a person of Rwandan origin as provided for by this Organic Law.<\/p>\n

Article 6: Conditions for applying for Rwandan nationality by origin<\/p>\n

A person who applies for Rwandan nationality by origin must fulfil the following:
\n1\u00ba to be born to at least one Rwandan parent who is a Rwandan not through acquisition but by virtue of Rwandan ancestry;
\n2\u00ba to provide at least one of the following:<\/p>\n

a. testimony by the applicant or by at least one person and corroborated by evidence;
\nb. a relative who has Rwandan nationality by origin;
\nc. any other proof demonstrating his or her Rwandan origin.<\/p>\n

Article 7: Modalities for applying for Rwandan nationality by origin<\/p>\n

Application for Rwandan nationality by origin is made to the organ in charge of Rwandan nationality.<\/p>\n

An Order of the Minister provides for application modalities and conditions.<\/p>\n

Subsection 2: Application for and granting Rwandan nationality by acquisition<\/strong><\/p>\n

Article 8: Grounds for applying for or granting Rwandan nationality by acquisition<\/p>\n

Grounds for applying for or granting Rwandan nationality by acquisition are the following:
\n1\u00b0 birth on the territory of Rwanda;
\n2\u00b0 foundling;
\n3\u00b0 marriage;
\n4\u00b0 adoption;
\n5\u00b0 national interest;
\n6\u00b0 special skills or talent;
\n7\u00b0 substantial sustainable investments or activities;
\n8\u00b0 residence in Rwanda;
\n9\u00b0 honour;
\n10\u00b0 being an immigrant;
\n11\u00b0 statelessness.<\/p>\n

Article 20: Nationality arising from acquisition of nationality by parents<\/p>\n

A child meeting the following requirements becomes automatically Rwandan like his or her parents:<\/p>\n

1\u00ba having born to a parent having been granted Rwandan nationality by acquisition, or having been adopted by a parent having been granted Rwandan nationality by acquisition;
\n2\u00ba be under age of majority.<\/p>\n
