{"id":36002,"date":"2022-05-30T05:17:40","date_gmt":"2022-05-30T05:17:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/?p=36002"},"modified":"2022-06-01T16:14:39","modified_gmt":"2022-06-01T16:14:39","slug":"zimbabweans-to-benefit-from-malawi-dual-citizenship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/en\/zimbabweans-to-benefit-from-malawi-dual-citizenship\/","title":{"rendered":"Zimbabweans to benefit from Malawi dual citizenship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sikhulekelani Moyo, Chronicle Reporter<\/p>\n<p>MALAWI has introduced dual citizenship and this means that those who are born outside its borders to Malawian parents can now be granted citizenship.<\/p>\n<p>A number of Malawians moved to Zimbabwe especially during the years of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland \u2013 a three-nation political and economic unit that was founded in 1953 consisting of Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) and Nyasaland (Malawi).<\/p>\n<p>The federation collapsed in 1963 because of pending independence of Malawi and Zambia.
