The intention is<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" aria-owns=\"pdfjs_internal_id_1495R\">to take stock of the status and performance of the 16 SADC member states&#8217;<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page12R_mcid38\" class=\"markedContent\"> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">birth registration<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">systems<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">by<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">analysing<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">legislation<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">governing<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">birth<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">registration<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">against<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">a<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">selected<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">set<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">benchmarks, considering fundamental legal safeguards for preventing statelessness in civil <span id=\"page15R_mcid0\" class=\"markedContent\">registration legislation. The report also identifies innovative practices, trends and gaps in programming for achieving birth registration for all.
