According to the act, the child\u2019s birth certificate, issued under\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/citizenshiprightsinafrica.org\/files\/botswana-law-on-births-and-deaths-registration\/\">Botswana\u2019s Births and Deaths Registration Act<\/a>, shall be the\u00a0proof of the nationality of the child.\u00a0The act holds that\u00a0refugee and displaced children must be provided with basic social services \u201cas are necessary for their survival or sustenance\u201d (Article 53).
