With regard to subparagraph (iii), principle 4 of the Great Green Document stipulates that \u201ccitizenship in the society of the Jamahiriya is a sacred right which may not be forfeited or withdrawn.\u201d Nationality is regulated by Act No. 17 of 1954 and Act No. 18 of 1980 and their implementing regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. It is noteworthy that women enjoy the same rights as men in regard to the right to acquire, change or retain their nationality or replace it with another nationality. Their exercise of this right is not affected by any other factors. A woman\u2019s nationality is not affected if she marries a non-Libyan or if her husband changes his nationality, since she forfeits her nationality only if she wishes to adopt her husband\u2019s nationality.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
