{"id":15638,"date":"2017-12-19T10:36:58","date_gmt":"2017-12-19T10:36:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/?p=15638"},"modified":"2018-01-08T10:39:10","modified_gmt":"2018-01-08T10:39:10","slug":"foreign-spouses-of-moroccan-women-can-soon-obtain-moroccan-citizenship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/fr\/foreign-spouses-of-moroccan-women-can-soon-obtain-moroccan-citizenship\/","title":{"rendered":"Foreign Spouses of Moroccan Women Can Soon Obtain Moroccan Citizenship"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-author-by\">By Amira El Masaiti<\/div>\n<div class=\"td-author-by\">\n<p>Rabat \u2013 Foreigners married to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.moroccoworldnews.com\/2017\/10\/230934\/moroccan-women-married-hcp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Moroccan women<\/a> and living in the kingdom will soon be allowed to obtain Moroccan citizenship, after the government discussed the possibility of amending Article 10 of the Moroccan nationality code, which only allows spouses of Moroccan men to obtain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moroccoworldnews.com\/2013\/11\/112098\/algerian-tennis-player-gets-moroccan-citizenship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">citizenship<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To date, Moroccan citizenship law only allows foreign women married to a Moroccan citizen, with regular and continuous residence in Morocco for at least 5 years, to obtain citizenship.
