Weah Wants All Race To Own Liberian Citizenship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Report by Lennart Dodoo and Henry Karmo <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monrovia<\/strong> \u2013 President George Manneh Weah has called for the repealing of the part of the Constitution that restricts Liberian citizenship to people of color<\/p>\n<p>He also called for the consideration of dual citizenship in Liberia.<\/p>\n<p>In his first <a href=\"http:\/\/frontpageafricaonline.com\/images\/pdfs\/state-of-nation-address.pdf\" rel=\"alternate\"><strong>annual message<\/strong> <\/a>on Monday, Liberia\u2019s new President described Article 12 of the Constitution is racist and discriminatory as said provision has hampered the development of the country over the years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe that we should have nothing to fear from people of other race becoming citizens,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>President Weah described the issue of citizenship in Liberia as his most urgent and imperative agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the founding of this country in 1847, more than 170 years ago, there have been certain restrictions on citizenship and property ownership.
