Each time she\u2019s been sent away in despair.<\/p>\n<p>Makuvise\u2019s application, like others submitted a year ago, is stuck in a huge passport backlog.<\/p>\n<p>Zimbabwe\u2019s passport office has seen an influx of applications as economic woes push more people to search for work in other countries.<\/p>\n<p>Inflation in Zimbabwe has hit a <a class=\"u-underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-zimbabwe-economy\/zimbabwe-to-allow-u-s-dollar-cash-withdrawals-from-some-accounts-idUSKCN1TW220\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">10-year<\/a><a class=\"u-underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-zimbabwe-economy\/zimbabwe-to-allow-u-s-dollar-cash-withdrawals-from-some-accounts-idUSKCN1TW220\" data-link-name=\"in body link\"> record of close to 100%<\/a>, the second highest rate in the world after Venezuela.<\/p>\n<p>The registry office can only process 50 passports a day.
