{"id":26113,"date":"2020-01-29T10:39:56","date_gmt":"2020-01-29T10:39:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/zimbabwe-govt-un-in-fight-against-statelessness\/"},"modified":"2020-01-30T20:41:56","modified_gmt":"2020-01-30T20:41:56","slug":"zimbabwe-govt-un-in-fight-against-statelessness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/fr\/zimbabwe-govt-un-in-fight-against-statelessness\/","title":{"rendered":"Zimbabwe: Govt, UN in Fight Against Statelessness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><cite class=\"byline\">By Zvamaida Murwira<\/cite><\/p>\n<div class=\"story-body\">\n<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"27\">The Government has partnered the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in a census for people living in the Diaspora to ensure they access the requisite national documents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"18\">The project is part of a collective effort to fight statelessness through the provision of national identity documents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"35\">This was said by UNHCR Southern African bureau deputy director, Mr Leonard Zulu, after meeting Speaker of the National Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda and Foreign Affairs portfolio committee chairperson Cde Kindness Paradza at Parliament yesterday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"19\">Mr Zulu said he was in the country to meet Government officials and that financial resources had been mobilised.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"23\">\u00ab\u00a0I have been here since Sunday and we have had fruitful discussions with the Speaker of the National Assembly and senior Government officials.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"40\">\u00ab\u00a0The task we have is to look at how we can improve on the documentation of Zimbabweans, getting documents (such as) birth certificates and identity cards to ensure that they are able to establish their strong links with the country.<\/p>\n<p data-para-word-count=\"40\">Read further: <a href=\"https:\/\/allafrica.com\/stories\/202001290267.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/allafrica.com\/stories\/202001290267.html<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"By Zvamaida Murwira The Government has partnered the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in a census for people living in the Diaspora to ensure they access the requisite national documents.
