{"id":36536,"date":"2022-09-11T20:05:22","date_gmt":"2022-09-11T20:05:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/?p=36536"},"modified":"2022-09-18T09:06:02","modified_gmt":"2022-09-18T09:06:02","slug":"nigeria-286-britons-lebanese-italians-others-get-nigerian-citizenship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/fr\/nigeria-286-britons-lebanese-italians-others-get-nigerian-citizenship\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria: 286 Britons, Lebanese, Italians, others get Nigerian citizenship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government has announced the conferment of citizenship by naturalisation and registration to 286 foreign nationals from 49 countries.<\/p>\n<p>In an advertorial signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Shuaib Belgore, and made available to Sunday PUNCH on Saturday, the <a href=\"http:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/nigeria-fg-grants-citizenship-to-286-foreign-nationals\/?lang=fr\">grant of Nigerian citizenship was approved by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on February\u00a0 9, 2022.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the document, titled, \u201cMinistry of Interior Announcement,\u201d while 208 of the beneficiaries would be awarded citizenship by naturalisation, 78 of them would receive citizenship by registration at a ceremony to be presided over by the President at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The beneficiaries include 108 Lebanese, 16 Italians, 14 Britons, five Nigeriens, and two Chadians.<\/p>\n<p>Also included are nationals from Egypt, the United States, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Syria, Greece, India, Dominican Republic, France, Palestine, Australia, Scotland, Pakistan, Jordan, Cyprus, and Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>Other beneficiaries are nationals from Turkey, Germany, Israel, Uganda, Liberia, Iran, China, Tunisia, Bulgaria, Venezuela, Iraq, Croatia, Spain, the Philippines,\u00a0 Cameroon, Congo, Eritrea, Sierra Leone, Mali, and S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign nationals from Serbia, Kenya, Belarus, Somalia, Romania, Zimbabwe, Ukraine and Ethiopia were also listed as beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>The document urged the awardees to \u201cpersonally come to the Ministry of Interior, Block F, Old Federal Secretariat, Department of Citizenship and Business for proper documentation and accreditation from Monday\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Read original: <a href=\"https:\/\/punchng.com\/286-britons-lebanese-italians-others-get-nigerian-citizenship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/punchng.com\/286-britons-lebanese-italians-others-get-nigerian-citizenship\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Federal Government has announced the conferment of citizenship by naturalisation and registration to 286 foreign nationals from 49 countries.
