The main purpose of the Guidelines and Procedures is to:<\/p>\n<p>i. Ensure smooth facilitation and easy acquisition of National Identity Documents;<\/p>\n<p>ii. Ensure easy understanding of the acquisition processes and make them as simple and brief as possible;<\/p>\n<p>iii. Assist the applicants to ensure submission of correct documentation or requirements; and<\/p>\n<p>iv. Provide clear guidance to the staff in Zambian Missions Abroad and Department of National Registration, Passports and Citizenship (DNRPC) in their engagement with the Diaspora.<\/p>\n<p>A National Identity Document: is a legal record\/certificate\/card issued by relevant government institutions for the purpose of verifying aspects of an individual\u2019s personal identity.<\/p>\n<p>Zambian Diaspora: refers to persons originating from Zambia, living or working abroad and individually or collectively, are willing to contribute to national development. This includes their descendants and is regardless of their acquired foreign citizenship.<\/p>\n<p>All National Identity Documents are issued by the Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship (DNRPC) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and are regulated under the following pieces of Legislation:<\/p>\n<p>i. Birth and Death Act Cap 51;<br \/>\nii. Passport Act No 28 of 2016;<br \/>\niii. National Registration Act Cap 126;<br \/>\niv. The Citizenship Act No 33 of 2016;<br \/>\nv. Marriage Act Cap 50; and<br \/>\nvi.
