{"id":6733,"date":"2015-09-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-09-04T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/court-stops-plea-in-sirats-citizenship-case\/?lang=fr"},"modified":"2018-05-25T06:47:35","modified_gmt":"2018-05-25T06:47:35","slug":"court-stops-plea-in-sirats-citizenship-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citizenshiprightsafrica.org\/fr\/court-stops-plea-in-sirats-citizenship-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Court stops plea in Sirat&rsquo;s citizenship case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A court yesterday stopped the prosecution of former Wajir South MP Mahamud Sirat over allegations of false acquisition of Kenyan citizenship.<\/p>\n<p>Sirat was to plead to the charges but this did not happen after his lawyer informed Nairobi chief magistrate Daniel Ogembo on existing Court of Appeal order stopping plea taking.<\/p>\n<p>The order was given by appeal judges Hannah Okwengu, John Mwera and Sankale Kantai on July 17. Sirat\u2019s lawyer Kethi Kilonzo said the order will be in place until a case filed by her client in 2011 is determined.
