Voter\u2019s Eligibility <\/span><\/p>\n

25. <\/span>The voter shall meet the followin<\/span>g conditions:<\/span><\/p>\n

1) <\/span>Born to parents both or one of them belonging to one of the indigenous <\/span>communities <\/span>that <\/span>settled in Southern Sudan on or before the 1<\/span>st <\/span>of January 1956, or whose ancestry is <\/span>traceable to one of the ethnic <\/span>communities <\/span>in Southern Sudan, <\/span>or,<\/span><\/p>\n

2) <\/span>permanent resident, without interruption, or whose any of the parents or grandparents are <\/span>residing permanently<\/span>, <\/span>without interruption<\/span>,<\/span>in Southern Sudan since the 1<\/span>st <\/span>of January 1956<\/span>;<\/span><\/p>\n

3) <\/span>h<\/span>ave reached 18 years of age<\/span>;<\/span><\/p>\n

4) <\/span>t<\/span>o be of sound mind<\/span>;<\/span><\/p>\n

5) <\/span>r<\/span>egi<\/span>stered in the Referendum Register<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Proof of Voter\u2019s Identity<\/span><\/p>\n

26.<\/span>1) <\/span>For the purpose of S<\/span>ection 25 above, the identity of the voter shall be proved by one of the <\/span>following:<\/span><\/p>\n

a) <\/span>Presenting the original identity card or personal identification document or a <\/span>c<\/span>ertificate issued by the local government authority <\/span>of the County <\/span>as recommended <\/span>by a competent Sultan or an identity document issued by the U<\/span>nited Nations High <\/span>Commission for Refugees<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

b) <\/span>A direct <\/span>oral <\/span>or written testimony by <\/span>a <\/span>competent Sultan <\/span>from the Cou<\/span>nty<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) <\/span>To verify any document or written\/oral testimony, a referendum <\/span>official <\/span>may seek the <\/span>assistance of <\/span>the <\/span>local authority or the competent Sultan or the <\/span>dignitaries <\/span>of the concerned <\/span>community.<\/span><\/p>\n

3) <\/span>To verify the identity of someone who does not possess any <\/span>personal identification <\/span>document, the referendum official shall seek the help of the competent Sultan.<\/span><\/p>\n
