How the eight “stateless” of the ICTR live in Niger

It’s one of the major misstep of the Arusha’s white elephant, also known as the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT). A year ago, its Arusha branch sent eight acquitted and released Rwandan persons to Niger, but Niger then said it didn’t want them and they are still blocked in Niamey. In this new podcast, our partners from Asymmetrical Aircut invited Barbora Hola, researcher and Associate Professor at the Vrije University Amsterdam, and Kate Gibson, the lawyer of one of these Rwandan men, to tell and explain the story of one of the most grotesque situations in international justice. «Unless a solution is found, the men are going to die one by one», says Gibson.
