By Onyebuchi Ezigbo Abuja — The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has lamented the incessant harassment of Nigerians by Cameroonian gendarmes in Bakassi Peninsula, saying the action amounted to a wilfull breach of the Green Tree Agreement brokered by the United Nations as part of measures to sustained peace in the area.

The acting Director General of The Agency, Dr. Charles Agbo, made the charge at the weekend in Calabar during a Joint meeting of officials of NEMA and other stakeholders in emergency management towards finding solutions to the challenges of displaced Nigerians from Bakassi. Cameroon, after the transfer of authority to it by Nigeria, guarantees to Nigerian nationals living in the Bakassi Peninsula the exercise of the fundamental rights and freedoms enshrined in international human rights law and in other relevant provisions of international law.
