Press release: Uncollected Omang cards

The Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs wishes to inform the general public that the Ministry currently has 25,348 uncollected Omang Cards.

In view of this high number, those who had applied for their Omang Cards are urged to come and collect their cards from the offices the applications were made. 183,856 Omang Cards have already expired, while 59,729 will expire in 2013, and 74,639 will expire in 2014.

In terms of the Electoral Act the right to register and vote for elections can only be exercised by citizens in possession of valid Omang Cards. It is also worth noting that to access various services in this country one needs to be in possession of a valid Omang card.

The public is further advised that application for renewal of Omang Cards can be made 12 months in advance of their expiry date.
