Uganda: Envoy Defends Rwandans Holding Ugandan IDs

Rwanda’s Ambassador to Uganda Frank Mugambage has defended Rwandan nationals crossing into Uganda at south western border points carrying Ugandan national identity cards saying “there is no violation of law on that”.

Maj Gen Mugambage, who contacted this newspaper in regards to a story that was published, said if there is any problem then Immigration departments of the two countries should work together to sort it out. In the story, Internal Affairs minister Rose Akol, while visiting Mirama-Kagitumba border point in Ntungamo District on Sunday, said many Rwandans are holding Ugandan IDs and ought to surrender them.
