ENTEBBE — Four ministerial nominees whose citizenship status has been under scrutiny failed to attend Monday’s Cabinet swearing-in ceremony at State House Entebbe, vindicating an exclusive ChimpReports report published on Sunday that predicted they would not participate in the inauguration.
President Yoweri Museveni presided over the ceremony that ushered in members of the new Cabinet before senior government officials including Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Marksons Oboth, Chief Justice Flavian Zeija and other dignitaries.
However, Foreign Affairs Minister-designate Adonia Ayebare, State Minister-designate for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs) Calvin Echodu, State Minister-designate for Microfinance Sharsti Kutesa Musherure and State Minister-designate for Internal Affairs Dr. Lawrence Muganga were notably absent.
On Sunday, ChimpReports exclusively reported that the four nominees had not received invitations to the swearing-in ceremony amid legal concerns surrounding their citizenship status and the status of their foreign citizenship renunciation processes.
